For mid-sized firms, frequent use creates a governance issue even when procurement remains limited: unsanctioned tools, inconsistent checking and variable source quality can become embedded before policy catches up. Leaders should pair usage measurement with workflow-specific quality tests and training, because access statistics alone do not show whether AI is improving outcomes.
