Morgan & Morgan commits $1 billion and plans to sell MX2 to other firms

On September 14, Reuters reported that Morgan & Morgan committed at least $1 billion to AI and technology over the next decade and plans to offer its MX2 platform to other law firms by the end of 2027. The 1,100-lawyer firm said it has already spent $300 million on MX2, which has nearly 5,000 monthly users and supports medical-information extraction, document generation and trial preparation. Mid-sized firms should treat this as both a scale benchmark and a market-structure change: a law firm with proprietary workflow data is preparing to become a software supplier. Competing firms do not need to match the capital spend, but they should identify the practice-specific workflows and client data that could support differentiated services without creating dependence on a direct competitor.
