On September 30, 2026, Legal IT Insider reported that Clio acquired Learned Hand, an AI workspace used by judges and clerks, including deployments in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The acquisition creates Clio’s first direct judiciary business and connects its legal and court data with tools for filings, research, bench memoranda and draft orders; deal terms were not disclosed. For mid-sized firms, Clio’s expansion suggests practice-management vendors may seek to own more of the end-to-end legal system rather than remain administrative software providers. That could improve interoperability, but it also makes data access, export rights and platform dependency more important procurement questions.
