Microsoft brings more than 20 legal skills into the Copilot environment

On October 15, 2026, Microsoft announced general availability of more than 20 purpose-built legal skills and partner plugins within Microsoft 365 Copilot. The release places legal workflows inside Word and the wider productivity environment rather than requiring users to begin in a separate specialist application. For mid-sized firms already standardized on Microsoft 365, this can lower deployment friction, but it also makes workflow design, source configuration and training more important than basic tool access. Leaders should compare the included capabilities with existing point solutions and avoid paying twice for functions that can now be delivered through the platform layer.
