Clio links AI adoption to higher revenue but not causation

On October 26, 2026, Clio released its 2026 Legal Trends Report and said firms using both Clio Work and Clio Manage recorded 10% higher revenue per responsible lawyer, 6.5% more billable hours and collection rates 2.5 percentage points above comparable firms not using those tools. The vendor’s report combines surveys, anonymized operating data and qualitative research, but the announcement describes associations rather than proving that AI caused the performance gap. Mid-sized leaders should treat the figures as benchmark hypotheses and require vendors to specify comparison groups, implementation costs and time-to-value. An internal business case should connect license and change costs to matter-level measures such as cycle time, write-offs, realization, throughput and retained demand.
