8 of 10 Leading Legal AI Platforms Still Refuse to Publish Pricing — Clients Are Responding With Procurement Discipline

A GC AI pricing transparency analysis (June 2026) confirmed that only two of the ten leading legal AI platforms publish individual pricing; Harvey, Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, Westlaw Precision AI, Lexis+ with Protégé, Spellbook, vLex Vincent AI, Legora, and Alexi all require a sales call to receive pricing information. Among 51 AI legal tools reviewed by LegalizeAI, only six publish prices without a demo. This opacity is increasingly meeting a client-side response: GCs are instructing outside firms to disclose AI usage on invoices, demanding that AI efficiency gains translate into lower fees, and in some cases refusing to pay for work performed with AI. The SRA's guidance on billing transparency in the UK states that adding a technology fee without clear justification and client agreement could be misleading. For BD and pricing leaders, the practical implication is to get ahead of this: firms that proactively disclose AI usage, quantify savings, and share efficiency gains with clients through transparent arrangements will build the trust advantage over those waiting to be asked.
