On September 23, Akerman launched PineWest Data Intelligence, a service division extending its e-discovery capability into information governance, privacy-request fulfillment, transactional diligence and other data-intensive work. The firm said PineWest will serve corporations, government agencies and other law firms using legal, technology and project-management professionals alongside analytics and AI-enabled review tools. For client teams, the launch is a practical example of converting internal delivery capability into a named service with a broader addressable market. The commercial test will be whether PineWest can create recurring, cross-matter relationships without confusing clients about ownership among the firm, the service division and other counsel.
