EU renews autonomous ISIL and Al-Qaeda sanctions through October 2027
Inside Practice · OCTOBER 29, 2026 · 1 MIN READ
On October 26, 2026, the Council of the EU renewed its autonomous ISIL/Da’esh and Al-Qaeda restrictive measures through October 31, 2027. The EU list currently covers 15 people and eight groups, imposing asset freezes, travel bans for listed individuals and prohibitions on making funds or economic resources available; the regime supplements UN Security Council sanctions. Clients should treat the renewal as a reminder to test payment, procurement and charitable-giving controls against both EU and UN lists rather than assuming one screening source is sufficient. Because autonomous and UN regimes can diverge in scope and timing, contractual sanctions clauses should specify which lists trigger suspension and what evidence is required to resume performance.
