California creates AI-verifier and auditor frameworks

The announcement describes SB 813 as enabling assessment of AI systems and models for compliance with state law, while AB 1405 addresses auditor independence, transparency and integrity. For law firms and legal departments, the laws make third-party assurance a more concrete part of California AI governance and should be reflected in vendor due diligence, audit-right clauses and evidence-retention practices.
