Federal judiciary task force maps more than 60 AI issues

On September 17, Reuters reported that a 24-member federal judiciary task force had identified more than 60 issues arising from court use of AI and made 30 recommendations, with further guidance expected over the following year. The initiative covers court administration as well as adjudicative risks, placing judicial procurement, internal use and litigant-facing rules within one governance program. Law firms should treat court AI policy as an emerging operational layer because it can affect filing formats, disclosure, evidence and expectations of human review. Legal departments should also expect outside counsel to explain how their AI controls align with the courts handling a matter.
