UK legal-services AI sandbox enters its final application days

On September 23, the UK government’s legal-services Advisory AI Growth Lab entered its final four days for applications, under guidance updated August 27 that sets an 11:59 p.m. September 27 deadline. The nine-month sandbox coordinates the SRA, ICO, Legal Services Board, Council for Licensed Conveyancers and government departments around real-world products whose questions cross regulatory remits. For firms and legal departments, the model offers documented regulatory engagement but explicitly provides no approval, endorsement or exemption from existing obligations. Its operating value will depend on whether the anonymised lessons produce reusable guidance for organizations that are not selected.
