Four Legal Techs Enter Y Combinator Summer '26 — Erinys Builds AI-Native Plaintiff Firm Network

Y Combinator accepted four legal tech companies into its summer 2026 cohort (announced August 10): Perceptron ML (AI systems for law firms trained on each firm's own matters, deployed privately for timekeeping, intake, research, discovery, and drafting); Erinys ("the first AI-native plaintiff-side litigation law firm network," delivering legal representation faster, more affordably, and to more people); Osmaura (agents scanning the web to deliver new client and cross-selling opportunities for law firm partners); and Async (agents automating complex work for law firms, healthcare clinics, and real estate companies that has never been economically viable to staff with humans). Erinys is architecturally notable: it frames itself not as software sold into existing plaintiff firms but as an AI-native litigation network — a delivery model that, like Lawhive on the consumer side and Moritz on the transactional side, is building legal service delivery infrastructure rather than legal technology tooling. Perceptron ML's private-sandbox model (each firm's own matters, deployed in its own environment) addresses the data governance and confidentiality barriers that have slowed AI adoption at litigation-focused firms. Wordsmith AI also closed a $14 million Series B extension led by Intact Private Capital this week, bringing total funding to $114 million since its 2024 inception and expanding into financial services and insurance.
