Harvey's Agentic Outlook Surfaces Matter Context Inside Email — KM Must Govern What the Agent Sees
BY INSIDE PRACTICE · AUGUST 17, 2026 · 1 MIN READ
Harvey's August 10 release of Agentic Outlook brings matter-aware AI reasoning into Microsoft Outlook, allowing lawyers to draft replies, generate documents, and surface matter context without leaving their email client. The release follows Harvey's general availability of Intapp ethical wall enforcement (August 11), which applies the firm's existing conflict and information-barrier policies directly to Harvey's surfaces — including, by extension, to Agentic Outlook. For KM directors, the combination of an email-embedded AI agent and enforced ethical walls is the first production architecture where AI tools operating inside everyday communication are governed by the same matter-level access policies applied to the DMS. The practical work for KM is ensuring that the matter profiles, playbooks, and context objects Harvey accesses through Intapp's integration are maintained with the same rigor as DMS matter workspaces — because the AI is now drawing on them in real-time, inside email.
