Lone Star Legal Aid separates research, operations and public knowledge tools

On September 8, Lone Star Legal Aid published a fall update on Juris, its internal research assistant; LSLAsks, its internal administrative assistant; and NAVI, a public-facing legal-navigation tool still being prepared for release. Juris and LSLAsks entered internal use in spring 2026, and the organization described attorney-vetted content, built-in feedback and continuing subject-matter review. The three-tool structure gives each audience a distinct corpus, risk profile and evaluation process instead of forcing legal research, internal policy and public guidance into one chatbot. LSLA also chose on-premises infrastructure, underscoring that sustainable KM design includes data control, maintenance capacity and predictable operating costs after grant funding ends.
