Clio Vincent Skills: Firm Standards as Governed AI Instructions

Clio launched Vincent Skills on July 22, 2026 — a capability that allows law firms and corporate legal departments to translate internal methods, preferences, and standards into plain-language instructions that Vincent applies automatically whenever the relevant context arises. A firm can create Skills governing how research is conducted in a particular jurisdiction, how specific contracts are drafted, or which conventions apply to document review. A tiered permissions system governs deployment: designated builders create and refine Skills, administrators approve them for firm-wide use, and all Skills can be tested and previewed before publishing. Alongside Skills, Clio shipped Vincent Memory — a separate capability that carries context forward from earlier interactions without requiring formal skill creation, including surfacing potential inconsistencies between new matter activity and previously recorded information. Together, Skills and Memory represent the productization of KM's core function: capture how work should be done, make it available consistently across all attorneys, and build audit trails around the process.
