CoCounsel + DeepJudge: The First Production RAG Integration Over Firm Knowledge

Thomson Reuters has integrated DeepJudge's firm knowledge retrieval engine into CoCounsel Legal, launching first in the UK. DeepJudge indexes and retrieves firm-specific work product — past matters, precedents, transaction history — and surfaces it within CoCounsel's AI workflows alongside external legal research from Westlaw. Thomson Reuters describes the result as a "360 AI experience." For KM leaders, this is the most significant platform-level event of the year: it is the first major commercial implementation of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over firm knowledge in a production legal AI tool. The integration puts pressure on firms to ensure their internal knowledge is indexed, structured, and clean — because it will now be queried in real time alongside authoritative external sources.
