Legatics MCP Server — Transaction Management Data Live to Claude, Copilot, Harvey, and Legora; Free with No Add-On

Legatics — the transaction management platform used across major UK and international law firms — launched both an API and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server on July 14, giving AI tools direct, read-only access to live Legatics deal data without requiring lawyers to export reports or copy information manually. The MCP server allows AI assistants including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Harvey, and Legora to query Legatics directly: asking what is overdue and assigned across all matters, pulling a complete summary of any matter including its lists, documents, and participants, and grounding AI answers in what is actually in the platform at the moment of the query. The MCP is free with no add-on charge; the companion API serves the same purpose for reporting, BI, and internal non-AI systems. Both are currently read-only — the roadmap commits to write access as the next release. Legatics also simultaneously launched a VDR-lite (data room) capability within the platform. For KM directors and innovation leads, the Legatics MCP launch illustrates the pattern now appearing across the legal tech stack: every major workflow system is adding an MCP server so that AI assistants have live, permission-aware access to its data. The implication for KM operating models is that the AI knowledge layer is increasingly assembled by connecting live data sources through MCP rather than by ingesting, indexing, and maintaining a separate static knowledge base.
