The Glama MCP directory now lists more than 48,000 Model Context Protocol servers, including legal-specific entries: a US Legal Case Search MCP, a Memory API server for enterprise knowledge query across legal, HR, and compliance domains with metadata-driven filtering and TF-IDF ranking, and a legal timeline server for complex case chronology. Separately, Autologyx announced MCP-enabled capabilities that allow AI agents to query structured enterprise knowledge — legal, HR, compliance — with metadata filtering, without bespoke per-tool integrations. Taken together, the MCP ecosystem signals that the technical infrastructure for connecting AI agents to firm knowledge is now commodity. The governance challenge — determining what knowledge is queryable, by which agents, with what metadata taxonomy, and under what access controls — is what remains, and it sits squarely in the KM function. Firms that have not yet developed an agent-access governance model for their knowledge repositories are behind the technical curve.
