Legora, BigHand, GC AI, and Aderant Drive the Week's Consolidation Cluster

In the seven days ending August 14, at least five additional M&A transactions closed or were disclosed: Legora acquired Wexler (litigation intelligence, 18-person team, to anchor a new London engineering hub — Legora's fifth acquisition of 2026); BigHand acquired Ayora (legal AI pricing specialist); GC AI disclosed it quietly acquired backend software firm Jetify in June to power its newly launched Contract Intelligence platform; Aderant acquired the HerculesAI legal technology assets to accelerate AI capabilities in its Work-to-Cash solution; and LexisNexis acquired Globe Law and Business (specialist legal content). Artificial Lawyer characterized the activity as "a buzzy period of opportunity for cash-rich buyers" acquiring talent, data, brand goodwill, and IP — rather than a sector-wide consolidation wave. The distinction matters for founders: the current exit environment rewards companies that can fit a specific growth need for an acquirer rather than those simply seeking a liquidity event.
