Legal Tech Raised $2.34B in Q1 2026 Alone — Sector Valuations Concentrate at the Top

Legal tech raised $2.34 billion in Q1 2026 alone, on top of a record $6 billion in 2025. The valuation table for the sector's three leading companies — Harvey at a reported $15.5B (pre-close), Legora at $5.55B, Norm at $1.2B — reflects a bifurcated market where the top tier commands multiples that resemble horizontal software platforms rather than vertical SaaS. For operators building at sub-$100M ARR, the funding environment remains active at early stages (Vector Legal's profitability at seed scale, Wordsmith's $114M total raised since 2024), but the enterprise procurement data from the Legal Stack report signals that the cost of sales is rising faster than many operators' unit economics can absorb. Security infrastructure, DPA negotiation capability, and AI governance committee engagement are now required sales costs — not optional enterprise-readiness investments — and they compress margins for vendors whose revenue base cannot support dedicated CIO- and CISO-track sales motions.
