Wordsmith AI and Vector Legal Signal Continued Early-Stage Appetite
BY INSIDE PRACTICE · AUGUST 17, 2026 · 1 MIN READ
Wordsmith AI closed a $14M Series B extension (Intact Private Capital), bringing its total raised to $114M since its 2024 inception; the company now has 170 employees (up 185% year-over-year) and approximately 500 customers, and is expanding into financial services and insurance. Vector Legal raised a $5.19M seed from Base10 Partners (post-YC W26) for an AI-native platform covering company formation, commercial contracts, and trademark management — and claims year-one profitability. The two rounds illustrate that early-stage capital continues to flow even as the sector's valuation center of gravity concentrates at the top; but the combination of a crowded market, lengthening enterprise sales cycles, and a growing security/governance review burden means the distance between seed and Series A is harder to cross than it was in 2024.
