Google Launches Gemini Enterprise for Legal With 13+ MCP Connectors and a Governed Control Plane

Google Cloud launched Gemini Enterprise for Legal on August 25 — a purpose-built agentic platform for law firms with legal-specific skills, MCP connectors to 13+ existing legal systems, a governed control plane, VPC and CMEK policies, private data isolation, and verifiable grounding with traceable citations. Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil, and Williams & Connolly are named launch partners; Legora is confirmed as a launch partner as well, with Legora capabilities accessible from within Gemini Enterprise while citations and permissions remain anchored in Legora's platform. Deloitte contributed pre-built agents (Contract Summarize Pro Agent and Clause Guard) available via Google Cloud Marketplace. For legal tech vendors, this launch has two distinct implications: Google's MCP connector architecture creates a platform distribution channel, but it also creates direct competition with any vendor that does what Gemini Enterprise now claims to do natively.
