iManage and Thomson Reuters announced August 20 an expanded strategic partnership connecting Thomson Reuters AI, CoCounsel Legal, and authoritative legal content with governed organizational knowledge in the iManage platform — with MCP support as the technical backbone. API-based integrations connecting iManage with CoCounsel Legal, HighQ, Contract Express, Noetica, and Legal Tracker are live today, while MCP enables approved Thomson Reuters AI tools to reason from governed iManage content while preserving access controls, ethical walls, and privilege boundaries. This partnership matters structurally: iManage sits at the center of document and knowledge management for most large law firms, and connecting it to Thomson Reuters' CoCounsel AI through a governed, privilege-aware MCP layer creates the kind of deep integration that smaller vendors cannot replicate without similar access to the DMS layer.
