The LexisNexis Quarterly AI Barometer released in August 2026 found that 55% of the UK's top 100 law firms now use AI tools for substantive legal work on a daily basis, up from 30% a year ago — a near-doubling in 12 months driven primarily by growth in AI-driven contract lifecycle management and predictive litigation analytics, not just document review. The same period has seen the integration gap emerge as the dominant operational problem: the Legal Stack AI Workflow Integration Report found that 68% of respondents operate "generate and transfer" workflows — AI output produced in one environment and manually moved into platforms like Clio, Aderant, Elite 3E, or iManage Work. Only 23% of law firm respondents reported AI tools that write back directly to practice or matter management systems.
