Thomson Reuters Next-Gen CoCounsel: Expanded MCP With Claude and AWS Partnership

Thomson Reuters announced the next generation of CoCounsel Legal on August 20, 2026 — expanding its MCP integration with Claude (Anthropic) to give legal professionals access to CoCounsel Legal directly from Claude, with cited, traceable work product grounded in Westlaw, Practical Law, and the organization's own knowledge. Thomson Reuters and AWS simultaneously expanded their collaboration. The CoCounsel-Claude MCP integration (first announced May 12) is now at launch readiness alongside the next-gen platform release. The Thomson Reuters-iManage expanded strategic partnership (also August 20) extends integrations across CoCounsel Legal, HighQ, Noetica, and Legal Tracker with governed iManage knowledge. Taken together, TR's August announcements establish a multi-platform presence strategy: CoCounsel as the governed content layer accessible across Claude, iManage, AWS, and the Thomson Reuters native interface — rather than a single-surface product competing on interface alone.
