BigHand survey links AI to profitability for 31% of measured firms

On September 16, Artificial Lawyer reported BigHand survey results in which 31% of firms that examined the relevant data said AI improved profitability per matter, 30% reported higher throughput and 27% reported fewer billable hours for some tasks. The survey also found that 35% of partners were uncomfortable discussing AI with clients, indicating that operational adoption is moving faster than commercial communication. For operators, the data supports selling measurement and pricing-change capabilities alongside automation, because task savings do not automatically translate into retained margin. The research is vendor-sponsored and the article notes gaps in firms’ tracking, so the figures should be treated as directional rather than as an independent market benchmark.
