Akerman launches PineWest Data Intelligence beyond eDiscovery

On September 25, Artificial Lawyer reported that Akerman launched PineWest Data Intelligence, a services division extending the firm’s eDiscovery capabilities into information governance, privacy, litigation and transaction-related data work. The division combines legal, technology and project-management professionals and is intended to help firms, companies and government agencies manage and analyze growing data volumes. For legal-tech suppliers, the move shows law firms building implementation and managed-service capacity around tools rather than relying entirely on outside vendors. That can create channel opportunities for platforms that support interoperable delivery, but it also puts vendors in competition with firms for higher-margin advisory and workflow-design work.
