Microsoft's Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) organization — approximately 2,000 legal and compliance professionals — announced July 23 that it has standardized on Harvey for global legal and compliance operations. Harvey is now available as an agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot and a plugin inside Copilot Cowork, running on Azure infrastructure. The deployment extends a December 2024 integration with SharePoint, Word, and Microsoft 365, and builds on a March 2026 Copilot agent integration and a June 2026 Copilot Cowork extension. Harvey also shipped Claude Sonnet 5 to Model Selector in Assistant, Vault, and Workflow Builder; added interactive legal visualizations (timelines, entity charts, compliance matrices); and expanded its global legal knowledge network with 50+ new jurisdiction-specific sources. For legal tech operators, Microsoft CELA becoming a Harvey customer — while Harvey also runs on Microsoft's infrastructure — is the definitive proof-of-concept for enterprise-level in-house AI procurement: the world's most sophisticated technology buyer chose legal-specialized AI over Microsoft's own general-purpose tooling.
