Litera announced a full brand relaunch on July 15 positioning itself as a platform that unifies the practice and business of law, underpinned by its generative AI agent Lito across drafting, contract review, knowledge, and client development tools. The practical differentiators Litera CEO Avaneesh Marwaha emphasized are pricing model and answer type: Litera currently offers Lito on a complimentary basis to customers of its core suite and has no plans to charge on a token-consumption basis — positioning cost certainty as a competitive wedge against Harvey and other usage-billed AI platforms. Kira (Litera's contract review product) will continue running on proprietary models with no token exposure, and Marwaha explicitly emphasized Litera's 30 years of rule-based engines layered on top of LLMs to deliver deterministic rather than probabilistic answers. General availability of Lito is scheduled for ILTACON in Nashville, August 23–27. For legal tech operators evaluating platform positioning, the Litera relaunch is a reminder-to-existing-customers play as much as a new-market play: Marwaha's core message is that firms already in the Litera suite may not need to adopt additional AI tools, and the integrated practice-and-business-of-law positioning explicitly targets firms who have bought across both sides of the stack — a growing segment, and one where Litera has 18 acquisitions' worth of product coverage that few single-purpose AI vendors can match.
