Singapore Law Society: Three Workplace Factors Explain Most Wellbeing Variance
BY INSIDE PRACTICE · SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 · 1 MIN READ
The Singapore Law Society's Anthro Insights Legal Profession Sustainability Study (June 2026, highlighted through August) identifies three factors with the most powerful independent effects on lawyer wellbeing: organisational support (being valued as people rather than billing units), family- and life-supportive practices, and supervisory stewardship — defined as supervisors who shield, support, and advocate for their reports. The research is methodologically distinct from most legal wellbeing surveys in isolating independent predictors rather than correlations, which gives it greater actionability for firms designing interventions. Supervisory stewardship is the finding likely to receive the least attention and do the most work: the quality of day-to-day supervision is a controllable variable most firms have underinvested in measuring or developing.
