The AI-Native Law Firm Monthly
Issue 04 — April 2026
The monthly deep dive on AI-native law firms, AI-native legal tech vendors, funding, leadership and go-to-market.
Editor's Note
April delivered the numbers behind March's noise, and they were lopsided. Legal tech raised $2.3 billion in Q1 2026, but three companies dominated (Artificial Lawyer, 13 Apr).
The more durable story was the firm side crossing a visibility threshold. AI-native law firms had collectively raised roughly $300 million by mid-month (Uwais Iqbal, 17 Apr), and by 24 April the AI Firm Index had grown from 27 listings to 40 in under four weeks (Legal IT Insider, 24 Apr).
Market Snapshot: AI-Native Law Firms
- AI Firm Index hits 40 listings — including Eudia, Alaro, AgileCounsel, Crosby, ElevateNext (part of Elevate) and Farringdon (Legal IT Insider).
- ~$300M raised collectively by AI-native firms as of mid-April (Uwais Iqbal).
- Crosby operating metrics: 58-minute median contract review turnaround; ~1,000 contracts processed every three weeks (Uwais Iqbal).
- Eudia: M&A due diligence and corporate contracting for clients including DHL, Stripe and Intuit (Uwais Iqbal).
- Manifest OS raised $60M at a $750M valuation to scale its AI-native law firm model (announcement, 28 Apr).
Vendor Watch
- Legora acquired Qura on 23 April to strengthen AI-native legal research (NewMarketPitch).
- Legora Series D extension (30 Apr): $50M led by NVentures (Nvidia) and Atlassian, with Adams Street, AirTree, Barclays, Geodesic, Insight Partners, Liberty Global and Nikesh Arora — total Series D $600M at $5.6B (AI Funding Tracker).
- Regulation lands: Australia's Federal Court set formal rules for lawyers using generative AI on 16 April (NewMarketPitch).
- Nvidia and Atlassian on a legal AI cap table means legal is now underwritten as workflow infrastructure, not a vertical SaaS niche.
Funding & Investment
| Company | Date | Round | Amount | Valuation | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manifest OS | 28 Apr | Growth | $60M | $750M | Announcement |
| Legora | 30 Apr | Series D ext. | $50M | $5.6B | AI Funding Tracker |
Q1 2026 total: $2.3B, dominated by three companies (Artificial Lawyer).
Leadership & GTM Moves
AI-native firms now market on operational metrics — median turnaround, volume throughput — in a way traditional firms structurally cannot match, because those metrics expose the economics of leverage (Uwais Iqbal).
Mainstream Firms Going AI-Native
The gap widened. Mainstream firms are hiring AI leadership and buying Harvey or Legora seats; AI-native firms are raising growth capital against per-unit pricing and publishing throughput data (Legal IT Insider).
